Biennale Logistics, Qatar and Venice

Biennale logistics coordination for Qatar and Venice.

Project Overview

For six years, Capit has managed the logistics of the Biennale exhibitions in Qatar and Venice: collecting artworks from numerous artists and locations, consolidating them for international shipment, and studying the packing, preservation, and crating requirements of each piece, from small fragile objects to large-scale installations. Custom crates are built in wood or metal per work and moved by sea or air with gantries, cranes, forklifts, and precision weighing systems. The team often collaborates with artists during production, guiding the structural design and dimensions of their works to facilitate safer packing and transport.

Brief

Manage Biennale logistics across Qatar and Venice: collect works from artists in multiple countries and consolidate them for international shipment.

Challenge

Works arriving from many artists and countries, each requiring its own crating solution and a single immovable deadline.

Solution

Custom crating built in wood or metal per piece, with artists advised during production on structure and dimensions to facilitate safer packing and transport.

Outcome

Six consecutive years of delivered Biennales across two countries.

The precedent

Capit sustains complex multi-country logistics year after year.
